OVERVIEW

This course will provide participants the knowledge to perform the most up to date taping and strapping techniques for athletes and sporting teams.

The course will cover up to 22 different techniques (more than any other course)on various sites of the body covering all the major and most common injuries seen in sport.

ELIGIBILITY

This course is suited for people with a knowledge of anatomy and sports injuries.

Extensive in depth knowledge of anatomy and sports injuries is not a prerequisite as the relevant anatomy and injuries will be covered on the course.

SYLLABUS

The PPT Taping & Strapping course covers all relevant areas including:

  • Appropriate taping & strapping materials and equipment required

  • Identification of common injury sites

  • Accessing suitability for strapping

  • Identification of appropriate strapping technique for specific injuries

  • Preparation of injury site for strapping and considerations for removal (underwrap, shave etc).

  • Practical Taping & Strapping demonstrations:

  • Shoulder; Instability and A/C joint

  • Elbow; Valgus, Varus and Hyperextension

  • Wrist

  • Thumb

  • Fingers/hand

  • Hip/Groin

  • Knee; ACL. PCL. MCL. LCL. Patella. Patellar tendonopathy

  • Ankle; Lateral sprain, Deltoid sprain, Syndemosis (high ankle) sprain.

TUTOR

Richard McDonald B.Sc. MIAPT is a physiotherapist and runs two physiotherapy clinics in Dublin. He has a Masters in Sports Medicine and has worked with various sports teams over the years including Terenure College RFC 1st XV & school SCT, St. Mary's College RFC U-20's & senior 2nd XV , Ballyboden GAA, Templeogue Synge Street GAA, DIT GAA, and Kildare Senior Hurlers. He is Currently working with Terenure College RFC 1st XV looking after their senior squad that play in the All Ireland League in the top Division 1A. He also covers the GAA teams in DIT and Blackrock RFC women's 1st XV

FEES

The cost of the PPT Taping & Strapping course is €200.00. All course fees are non refundable and must be paid before the commencement of the course.

All Tapes will be provided for use during the course.
